Customer wanted us to build a semi automated assembly module to assemble 3 styles of 2 piece Tether Assemblies. The module was a stand alone unit. The system included a feeder bowl to feed a plug to in insert station. An operator would load tethers to a fixture. Once the tether made a switch it would automatically activate a cylinder that would seat the plug. Changeover from one style to another less than 5 minutes.
Work performed:
Customer required a lean module to aid the operator in inserting a rubber grommet into a metal bracket. The grommets were fed out of a retooled feeder bowl to a position where they were automatically inserted into a bracket. The tooling was designed to accommodate future design changes in the bracket. Prior to the build of this equipment the tooling which inserts the grommet was prototyped to insure the concept would function properly.
